Wharton Anniversary Event is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. The Wharton Anniversary Event enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
Traditionally, the Wharton Anniversary Event is held across the country on the second Tuesday of August. The Wharton Police Department has decided to hold the event on the final weekend in June. This is synonymous with the anniversary of Port Oram being incorporated, on June 26, 1895. Port Oram would later become Wharton Borough.
